THROUGH THE YEARS

Inspired by a Saint

Alvaro-del-PortilloThe Center for Industrial Technology and Enterprise (CITE) Technical Institute was motivated by Blessed Alvaro del Portillo during his visit in 1987. CITE became a reality in 1990, and since then has been true to its mission of providing top-notch technical and vocational education to the less privileged post-secondary youth in the Visayas and Mindanao through values driven technical education.

Through the invaluable support of partner industries and generous families, groups and individuals who mete out scholarships and capability build-up, CITE has made a difference in the lives of many young men and their immediate families through its hallmark program for technicians (Industrial Technician Program – ITP). Majority of more than 3, 500 technician graduates of CITE are now gainfully employed or engaged in business in the industrial and commercial sectors here in the country and abroad. CITE also trained thousands of industrial operators, supervisors and managers in its short term course offerings.
The spiritual and personal formation of the students and parents is entrusted to the Prelature of Opus Dei, in addition to the regular human formation, advisory and personalized mentoring provided by the faculty, industry supervisors, staff and alumni.

DYNAMICS OF CITE EDUCATION

1. The Training for Employment and Productivity

On top of the many programs offered by CITE is the 3-year post secondary diploma course called Industrial Technician Program or ITP. ITP aims to produce well trained, middle level technician / manpower for industry, teaching and entrepreneurial work.”

The courses in CITE are designed to keep pace with work demands as well as advances in industrial technology. We follow internationally accepted standards.

2. Education in Values

CITE believes that the heart and soul of a successful training program is a balanced personal formation. Personal formation is the training given to each student so that he becomes a person of virtues.

Each student is assigned a mentor to help him progress in his academic, professional, family, cultural and spiritual development. Out of every 100 students, we are interested in 100.

3. The CITE Industry-CITE Linkage Program

The industry plays a big role in CITE programs. The training in CITE is called dual because it happens in two venues – the school and the company. The program embodies a strong cooperation between CITE and the companies and aims to benefit the partnership.

CITE’s Impact to Society in the last 25 years

In 2014, 98% of graduates have been gainfully employed in the country and abroad as a result of their technical education in CITE. While a good number of them has been able to set up their own business outfits.

At any given time between 1994 and 2014, the employment rate of CITE graduates never went down below 90% average. Not even in economic hard times.

The network of more than 175 active partner companies and scholarship grantors, not to include the many anonymous donors, is a living proof that CITE is a sincere and reliable institution who gives value to the grants received. This is an arrangement offering beyond charity and relevant PR image.
