John Mark Alvarado once believed that after senior high school, his life would be spent working at the farm. While farming is a meaningful and honest work, he also knows that pursuing a college education offers a better future not only for himself, but for his family as well. When he learned about CITE’s scholarship opportunities, he did not hesitate to travel from Dalaguete to Cebu City to enroll.

After completing senior high school, Ryan James Centino worked as a construction worker. The job enabled him to earn a living, yet he soon realized that more lasting opportunities come with education. When CITE offered him the chance to continue his studies, he accepted it with deep gratitude and now looks forward to beginning his journey in the diploma program.
For Alexis Acquiles Tabada, the road to higher education took an unexpected turn. A first-year Mechanical Engineering student and Dean’s Lister at Cebu Institute of Technology–University, he was compelled to pause his studies when his father lost his job abroad. In a moment of uncertainty, Alexis found his way to CITE, which opened its doors to him offering a second chance and renewed hope to complete a diploma program and pursue his aspirations.
John Mark, Ryan, and Alexis are among the 125 scholars granted opportunities through CITE’s scholarship program. For these young men, CITE is more than a place of academic training. It represents a second chance at life made possible through scholarships that enable them to complete the three-year diploma program and move closer to their dreams.
This journey formally began during a meaningful meet-and-come-together on December 16, 2025, when CITE welcomed the 125 new scholars under the Diploma Program for their first face-to-face encounter with their class advisers. Scholars from the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, and Electrical Engineering Technology programs gathered for a one-day orientation and onboarding. The activity included introductions, ID processing, an orientation on school rules and regulations, and a guided tour of the campus marking the first steps of their shared journey as members of the CITE community.
CITE is still accepting applicants—preferably senior high school graduates—for the Electrical Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology programs who are ready to start their studies immediately. Register now: bit.ly/citeregistration
