The Role of Parents at CITE
At CITE, we believe that education begins at home. Parents are the first teachers of their children, shaping their values, discipline, and character. Yet, we also recognize that many of our students come from families with limited income and educational opportunities. Parents can only share what they themselves have received.
Because of this, CITE extends its formation not only to students but also to their parents. Every month, parents are invited to parenting seminars designed especially for them. Just as their sons complete a diploma program after three years, parents too receive their own “diploma” through the Education for Development Seminar Series consistent formation they undergo.
From the start, parents are made to understand that they remain the primary providers and role models for their children. To strengthen this responsibility and avoid dependency, parents are encouraged to give a symbolic counterpart contribution. This may come in different forms:
> A monthly pledge, according to their means
> Services offered for the upkeep and maintenance of CITE
In this way, parents are not passive beneficiaries, but active partners in their sons’ education.
CITE also serves as a values formation center for students, parents, staff, and even partner companies. For industry, seminars such as “Back-to-Basics on Values and Attitudes” are offered to strengthen productivity by focusing on positive values and work ethics.
Through this shared responsibility, the diploma programs at CITE do not only produce competent technicians for industry but also foster stronger families. Parents and students grow side by side—one in technical skills, the other in values and responsibility—both contributing to a brighter future for the home, the community, and the nation.
