CITE strengthened its commitment to the safety and preparedness of its school community through a Fire Safety Seminar and Drill conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region 7 at the CITE campus on August 28, 2026.
The activity was conducted by the Talamban Fire Substation under the leadership of SFO3 Ronan A. Borbajo, Substation Commander, in coordination with BFP Region 7 and the Cebu City Fire Station.
The seminar and drill aimed to enhance the awareness of CITE students, faculty, and staff on fire hazards and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to respond properly during fire emergencies.
Through the activity, participants were oriented on the importance of fire prevention, hazard identification, emergency response, and proper evacuation procedures. The subsequent fire drill provided the CITE community with an opportunity to apply these procedures in an actual emergency simulation.
For CITE, the activity goes beyond compliance with safety requirements. It forms part of the Institute’s continuing efforts to foster a culture of responsibility, preparedness, and care for the safety of the entire school community.
The hands-on nature of the drill also reinforced the importance of knowing what to do during an emergency—remaining calm, following established procedures, responding promptly, and assisting others when necessary.
CITE expressed its appreciation to the Bureau of Fire Protection Region 7, Cebu Provincial Fire Marshal, Cebu City Fire Marshal, Cebu City Fire Station, and Talamban Fire Substation for sharing their expertise and helping strengthen the Institute’s emergency preparedness.
The activity also highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between educational institutions and emergency response agencies in creating safer learning and working environments.
With initiatives such as the Fire Safety Seminar and Drill, CITE continues to prepare not only technically competent learners but also a responsible and safety-conscious community equipped to respond to real-world challenges.
