June 26, 2025 marks 50 years since the passing of St. Josemaria Escriva, Founder of Opus Dei and tireless advocate of the universal call to holiness through ordinary life. To honor this occasion, Masses will be celebrated across the Philippines in thanksgiving for his life, teachings, and enduring influence.
In Cebu, a solemn Eucharistic celebration in honor of his feast day will be held at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral at 6:00 p.m. The Mass will be presided over by Cebu Archbishop, Most Rev. Jose Palma.
St. Josemaria taught that holiness is not reserved for a few, nor confined to monasteries or pulpits. He proclaimed that the everyday work of ordinary people—carpenters, engineers, students, parents—can be sanctified and offered to God. As he profoundly said:
“Your ordinary contact with God takes place where your fellow men, your yearnings, your work, and your affections are.”
This simple yet transformative idea is at the heart of the mission of CITE Technical Institute. Inspired by the teachings of St. Josemaria and his successor, Blessed Alvaro del Portillo, CITE was founded not only to provide quality technical education to underprivileged youth, but to form young men in character and integrity and guided by the core values of work, service, and prayer.
CITE remains committed to help young people with limited means build solid foundations in knowledge and technical skills. Here, education is not merely about earning a diploma or landing a rewarding job; it’s about shaping responsible and productive citizens who see their work as a form of service.
This mission would not be possible without the support of our industry partners, scholarship benefactors, government agencies, alumni, parents and our dedicated faculty and staff who place students at the center of the learning process and challenge them to grow in both competence and character.
As we commemorate the life and legacy of St. Josemaria Escriva, we are reminded of the profound dignity found in everyday life and labor. As he so aptly said:
“You should sanctify your work, sanctify yourself in your work, and sanctify others through your work.”
At CITE, we strive to live out this vision—forming one student, one family at a time.
