CITE Community Responds with Compassion After Cebu Quake

October 16, 2025

The 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck northern Cebu on September 30, 2025, left many families reeling from loss and uncertainty. Among them was the family of alumnus Chris Jhon Nobleza Lopez, whose home was reduced to rubble, forcing them to face the difficult task of starting over.

His story is a reminder of the hardships brought by disasters—and of how much can be achieved when people come together. The call for help was met with a swift and generous response from CITE alumni, staff, and partners. Financial aid, food packs, and other essentials were gathered through their collective effort, bringing hope to families most affected.

Thanks to the support of the Century Pacific Group and the hard work of volunteers, relief goods were prepared and distributed. On October 18, 2025, the CITE team, led by Alumni Officer Romero Enoc, visited the hard-hit communities of Tabuelan, San Remigio, Bogo, Tabogon, Sogod, Medellin, and Daanbantayan to personally deliver assistance.

In the face of tragedy, the spirit of solidarity proved stronger than the quake itself.
