CITE Empowers Faculty and Staff with First Aid and Basic Life Support Training

July 23, 2025

As part of its ongoing commitment to student welfare and campus safety, CITE, through its Health, Safety, and Security Committee, organized a First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) Training on July 22–23, 2025. The training equipped faculty, staff, and selected students with essential life-saving skills to better respond in emergency situations.

The two-day training was conducted in partnership with the Radio Emergency Assistance Volunteer Organization (REAVO) – Cebu Chapter, whose experienced responders provided both knowledge sharing and practical demonstrations. The resource team included REAVO President Jed Justin Narvios, ERT Specialist Jan Mabanta, and Josh Narvios.

Participants learned how to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies, perform high-quality chest compressions, and administer early intervention using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The course also included hands-on simulations covering wound care, choking response, splinting, and other critical first-aid techniques.

With realistic practice scenarios, the participants gained confidence, situational awareness, and the readiness to act during emergencies ensuring that CITE staff are not only educators but also capable first responders in times of need.
