CITE Technical Institute took part in the 2025 Bright Islands Encounter held in the province of Camiguin on May 27–28, 2025. Representing the school were Mr. Reymond Paredes and Engr. Ed Watin. (clockwise from left foreground, 5th and 6th, respectively).
The Bright Islands Encounter is an annual initiative launched this year by the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC). The event rotates across various island provinces in the country to promote innovative and sustainable energy solutions, especially for Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs).
With the theme “Innovation Will Drive Energy Security in GIDAs,” the gathering brought together energy innovators, national and local government agencies, private corporations, and academic institutions to discuss renewable energy strategies tailored to off-grid communities.
Camiguin, known for its environmental consciousness and potential for renewable energy integration, was chosen as the inaugural host. Its challenges in energy access, combined with its commitment to sustainability, make it a fitting model for future energy-secure island communities.
