From Struggles to Strength

When asked what a safety officer truly is, Junreyrio Demoral doesn’t hesitate. For him, it is simply the workplace’s “the guardian angel.”
At Delfingen Philippines—a French multinational company producing automotive wire harness and protection systems—Junreyrio has embraced that role. With his presence, reassuring stance, and expertise as an accredited Occupational Safety and Health Practitioner under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), he gives confidence and protection to over 150 employees. His reach extends even further, with other MEPZ companies seeking his guidance and training. But Junreyrio’s journey toward becoming a workplace guardian was far from easy.
As a 2013 graduate of CITE’s Diploma in Mechanical Technology, Junreyrio’s path was not without obstacles. In his first semester, he struggled academically and financially and almost gave up. But a turning point came when his adviser, the late June Capuyan, personally visited him in Lapu-Lapu City, encouraged him to continue, and helped him secure a TMX scholarship, an intervention that changed the course of his life.
“If not for CITE, I don’t know where I would be. I would not be here,” Junreyrio reflects.
Starting as a building maintenance technician at ATOMED Cebu after graduation, he later honed his skills at Philippine Iino Corporation and Taiyo Yuden Philippines. His turning point came at Devlarn Ventures and Development Corporation, where a supervisor recognized his potential to be a safety officer from being a logistics staff. That spark became his lifelong calling.
Through dedication and continuous learning, Junreyrio took on safety roles in companies such as Need Ink Sales and Services, D’ New Hard Builders, and Suprea Philippines—experiences he remains deeply grateful for. For nearly two years now, he has been serving at Delfingen as a DOLE-accredited Safety Officer III, the 112th in Region VII. Here, he champions BOSH and COSH standards, ensures strict compliance with government regulations, and keeps his eye on one mission: achieving zero loss time accidents.
Junreyrio, who is naturally timid, overcame his shyness by conducting toolbox meetings, orientations, and pep talks. Speaking in front of people, once his personal weakness, has now become his professional strength. His dream is to grow further—aspiring to become a safety consultant in the next 10 years, perhaps even abroad.
At 32, married and raising a child, Junreyrio remains deeply grateful for his beginnings. He still revisits his old CITE notes, practices CAD and isometric drawings, and draws strength from faith, recalling how God never abandoned him during his hardest struggles.
“Without CITE and the people who believed in me, I would not be where I am today,” he shares. “I am grateful to be with Delfingen—it feels like CITE in many ways. We have Mass every quarter, and the company fosters a family-like environment.”
Indeed, from a struggling student to a workplace ‘guardian angel,’ Junreyrio Demoral’s story is a powerful reminder that when others believe in us, they give us wings to soar and roots to remain grounded.
