To instill the principles of 5S—a Japanese methodology for reducing waste through Sort, Systematize, Sweep, Sanitize, and Sustain—in good housekeeping among all faculty and staff, CITE management conducted a company-wide “Brigada sa CITE” on August 16. Nine teams participated in the event, each assigned to a specific area of the campus.
The teams were divided into the following groups: Academic, Electrical, Computer, Human Formation, Electronics, BRDU, IGCR, Mechanical, and Finance. They worked diligently to tidy up and deep clean various public areas, including the gym, CITE perimeter, Rooms 201-206, trophy cabinet, visitors’ rooms, stock rooms, stock cabinets, pedestrian areas, and tent areas.
Spearheaded by the HR department, HRD Director Mr. Marlon Valencia emphasized the importance of 5S practices in improving efficiency and creating an organized environment, prioritizing the health, safety, and morale of the staff.
In his closing remarks, Executive Director Dr. Jose Ramiro Carpio Jr. highlighted that 5S should become a way of life at CITE, focusing on eliminating waste and enhancing efficiency through these principles. The Human Formations Department, led by Mr. Chito Flores, emerged as the winner of the competition after their exceptional cleanup of the gym’s stock room. The event was co-sponsored by CITE Multipurpose Cooperative.
Thanks to the collective efforts of the CITE staff, all classrooms and laboratories are now ready for the resumption of classes on August 27, 2024.
