CITE to Forge Ties with German Foundation and Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry

March 30, 2025

CITE is in discussions with the AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation, a German foundation, and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) to collaborate on a project offering a short course for the Seafood Processing Plant Assistant job profile under the Dual Education and Training (DET) modality. This initiative is part of the FISH Visayas Project, a joint effort by CCCI and AFOS, which promotes sustainable fisheries and related food value chains in Central Visayas.

The program aims to bridge the job-skills mismatch through industry-academe collaboration, ensuring that students gain relevant training for employment in the seafood processing sector. By integrating the DET approach, the project will provide hands-on learning opportunities and industry exposure to aspiring seafood processing professionals in Metro Cebu.

The implementation of the program is lodged under the Chamber’s Assessment, Certification, and Accreditation Services (ACAS).

Joy Lorena Segismar, Executive Director of CCCI, (seated, left most) and Bryan Araneta of AFOS (standing, 5th from left) visited CITE on March 17, 2025 to discuss the framework for implementing the program.
