Christopher Abalos, a graduate of CITE in 2000 with a Diploma in Electronics Technology, has built an inspiring career characterized by resilience and outstanding achievements. Born into a large family from Carmen, Cebu, Christopher faced his share of struggles from a young age. Despite the hardships, he remained determined to pursue his education at CITE through a scholarship.
Christopher excelled academically and gained valuable hands-on experience through on-the-job training, which shaped his technical expertise. His career took off when he was hired by MinebeaMitsumi Inc., then Cebu Mitsumi Inc., as a Surface Mount Technology (SMT) technician. Through sheer determination, he rose through the ranks, becoming the top SMT technician at the Cebu factory in just six years.
Christopher’s relentless pursuit of excellence led to multiple promotions, culminating in his current role as Manager and Head of the Connector Business Division at MinebeaMitsumi. Along the way, he earned numerous awards, including the Golden Award at the MinebeaMitsumi Team Building Competition in Tokyo, Japan, and multiple Kaizen awards.
Over the course of his career, Christopher has held pivotal roles, including serving as a Senior Supervisor, and now excels as a Manager and Head in one of the organization’s pioneering divisions, where he continues to lead with distinction and excellence.
Christopher’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance and discipline. As he shared with new graduates at the 42nd Commencement Exercises on August 20, 2024, “Difficult roads often end with a beautiful destination.” His journey from a struggling student to an industry leader is a powerful inspiration for those embarking upon their own professional paths. Reflecting on his journey, Christopher noted, “Success is not just about reaching the top; it’s about the journey, the sacrifices, and the lessons learned along the way.”
