Batch 10 graduate of Electronics Technology and former faculty member Ronilo Alcuizar is a semi-finalist for IPC Hand Soldering World Championship hosted by Neuro Technology for the Middle East Region. The competition pits highly skilled technicians all over the world against one another in hand soldering of high density PCBAs (printed circuit board assembly) while meeting zero-defect soldering and assembly reliability. The world championship will take place in Munich, Germany in November 2022.
Alcuizar (seen at 1:36) is no strange to the task on hand being a former instructor and a graduate of CITE who has extensive training in hand soldering. He is now based in UAE.
During the competition, contestants were given a 60-minute time limit to work on a complex circuit board assembly and were judged according to their speed and their assembly’s electronical quality and functionality.
IPC (Institute of Printed Circuits) is a trade association that standardizes the assembly and production requirements of electronic equipment and assemblies.
