CITE Ranked 116th for Web Presence

cite The Cybermetrics Lab, a Spain-based research group, released the world ranking of universities in January 2017  for top 200 colleges and universities in the Philippines based on their respective web presence.

CITE was ranked 116th in the country and 8th in Cebu. The University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman came with a lead over De La Salle University Manila in the Philippine ranking. CITE dropped 30 notches from no. 86 in 2015. Its global rank is currently on no. 16,700.

The ranking was based on four indicators: (1) Presence (number of site pages), (2) Visibility (number of external networks originating backlinks to the institutions webpages), (3) Transparency or Openness (number of citations from Top authors according to the source) and (4) Excellence(number of papers amongst the top 10% most cited in 26 disciplines.

The  ranking intends to motivate institutions and scholars to have web presence that reflects accurately their activities. The web performance is said to encourage school administrators to reconsider web policy and promote substantial increase of volume and quality of electronic publications.
